I noticed this flower growing in a pot as I walked by and stopped to take pictures when I returned. I think it is a type of mum. Please tell me if you know what it is. Do you see the tight bud of another blossom?

The flower you questioned is a "Dahlia". When I was at home Mama would always have a row of Dahlias in her garden. They make beautiful flower pots and are very hardy. They come in many varities and colors.
